13A convoy of vehicles took about 20 students and staff to attend the award ceremony of the he Student Peace Prize in Bergen. The Prize is awarded to students who make an extraordinary contribution to promote peace, democracy and human rights in their country. The 10th Student Peace Prize Laureate goes to Elkouria “Rabab” Amidane from Western Sahara. Elkouria “Rabab” Amidane is a Saharawi student and human rights activist, who studies English at the University of Marrakesh in Morocco. Amidane is fighting for freedom for Western Sahara and for the human rights of the Saharawi people.

22Rabab has been to the RCNUWC on a previous visit. This time, we took students to attend her talk in Bergen. After the talk, the students had the chance not only to speak to Rabab, but also engage with Moroccans who also went to the talk to hear their perspective.

The fourth annual Saharawi Solidarity Half-Marathon at RCNUWC took place after a good day of snowfall yesterday, followed by a drizzle today. Twenty-seven participants finished the run, including Inge Haugen from Hornindal IL, who just finished his 351st marathon in Bergen.

Daniek from the Netherlands finished first, with a time of 1 hour 26 minutes and 13 seconds. The run was also ‘walked’ or even ‘danced’ by many, including math teacher Ferenc, with his own style.
